about
Influenced by the force of nature and the energy of classic rock, brazilian band Wizened Tree releases a new single.
Released on Friday 24, The Prize is the new single from Wizened Tree, a classic rock band that mixes influences from Black Sabbath, ZZ Top and Deep Purple to revive the free spirit of rock, in the dystopian scenarios of the Cerrado region of Tocantins.
Recorded in Live Session format, the song was recorded in the Geodesic center of Brazil, demarcated in Palmas with a monumental square, with the Palácio do Araguaia in the middle. Live Session was commissioned to compose a series of performances for the seventh edition of the Bem Ali festival, which with online programming is launching sessions every week, and which will culminate in the presentation of 6 local bands on October 17th, in live format , recorded at the theater at Sesc Palmas.
With a road theme, The Prize tells, in a psychedelic way, the saga of a lone truck driver who travels the desert in search of a bar fight. It's a story with the smell of fuel inspired by the Cerrado region of Tocantins, but that could very well happen between the universes of Mad Max and From Dusk Till Dawn
The Prize also has a music video produced by Círculo Filmes, and is a release by Wheels of Confusion Records - which is led by Felipe Marinho, the band's bass player - and which is preparing a series of releases by artists from Tocantins until the end of the year.
Wizened Tree, created in 2015 by Artur Pery, Davi Pery, Douglas Vilela and Felipe Marinho, resulted in the production company Árvore Seca and the Bem Ali festival, with the aim of moving the underground scene in Palmas. Since then, the band has performed over 30 shows in Palmas, in addition to having played in Brasília, Goiânia, Osasco, Gurupi, Araguaína, Porto Nacional and Taquaruçu.
Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021
